Rescuing Children

At the heart of our ministry is a deep calling: to rescue, restore, and raise up the next generation.

Since 2016, ARISE Children’s Village has become a place of safety, healing, and hope—where children are not just sheltered, but welcomed into family. Each home operates as a true family unit, led by house parents who are supported and empowered to raise these children with love, structure, faith, and care.

Our focus is on the love and care of the children that come into the village, but the real heroes that make this possible are the house parents, who have each given their lives to become mom and dad to children not by blood, but definitely out of the overflow of love in their hearts. Every couple are married, Christian role models and each has the opportunity for one parent to also hold employment within Haiti ARISE.

2A5A7050.JPG

In Haiti, 1 in 10 children live as “restaveks”—a Creole term meaning “to stay with,” but in truth, it often means a life of child slavery. Desperate parents, unable to provide basic care, send their children to live with other families hoping they’ll be better cared for. Tragically, many of these children face abuse, neglect, and exploitation instead. Beyond this, countless others are abandoned or orphaned due to extreme poverty and the growing crisis of teen and unwed pregnancies, leaving thousands of children vulnerable, voiceless, and in need of protection.

IMG_6249.jpg

This is not an orphanage—it’s a community built on dignity and belonging. A social worker walks alongside each family, helping ensure every child grows in education, spiritual strength, and emotional well-being.

Ruthnéie.jpg

This is a key part of our ministry. And together, we are not just building homes.

We are raising a generation

Today, 36 children call the village home.

When fully built, it will hold up to 144 children across 18 family homes—each one a testimony of God’s faithfulness and the power of love in action.

Redeemed. Restored. Ready to Lead.

Carly

Carly’s Story: From Near Death to New Life
Carly came to us in 2016, the very first child welcomed into the ARISE Children’s Village. His story is one of heartbreaking loss—and incredible resilience.

Carly’s mother died giving birth, leaving behind eight children in the care of their father, a poor peasant farmer who was unable to provide for them. With no other options, he gave each child away to different caretakers. Carly ended up with an aunt who loved him, but lacked even the means to feed him milk. By the time we found him, he was on the brink of death. At just 14 months old, Carly couldn’t lift his head or sit up. He was severely malnourished and riddled with parasites—over 70 worms were expelled from his tiny body after receiving urgent medical care.

But Carly’s story didn’t end there. At the Children’s Village, he began to heal. He gained strength, learned to walk, and eventually to thrive. Today, Carly is a living picture of hope—a reminder of why this Village exists. One child. One life. Forever changed.

Roudley

Roudley’s Story: Finding Stability, Discovering Potential
When Roudley first arrived at ARISE Children’s Village, he was quiet and uncertain—his young life had been marked by instability and neglect. His mother, suffering from mental illness, was unable to care for him, and with no father present, Roudley spent most of his days alone on the streets of Grand-Goâve.

At six years old, he had never set foot in a classroom. He didn’t know his letters or numbers. No one had ever taught him.

But everything changed when he came to the Village. Within just one week, surrounded by care, structure, and encouragement, Roudley learned his letters and numbers—and with them, a glimpse of his potential.

Roudley’s story reminds us: sometimes, all a child needs is a safe place to belong—and someone who believes in them.

Chilove’s Story: From Crisis to Care

Chilove grew up in a single-parent home with her father and four siblings. Life was already difficult, but it turned tragic after her mother gave birth to her youngest sister, Dailove. Severely anemic and struggling to breathe, her mother passed away because the family couldn’t afford medical care.

At just five years old, Chilove had never been to school. She and her siblings lived in a tiny 3x3 meter house, sleeping on scraps of cloth so filthy they caused painful skin infections. The family’s situation was desperate.

In December 2019, Chilove and her baby sister were brought to ARISE Children’s Village. Now, they live in a safe, clean home where they are loved, cared for, and thriving. Chilove is in school for the first time, and both girls are finally getting the chance to simply be children.

Dailove’s Story: A Life Rescued, A Future Restored

Dailove was born under heartbreaking circumstances. After delivering twins—Dailove and her brother—her mother became severely anemic and struggled to breathe. With no money for medical care, the family watched helplessly as she passed away just one week later.

Despite his limited means, Dailove’s father tried to care for her on his own. But within three months, her condition worsened dramatically. She was severely malnourished and so weak she couldn’t even drink from a bottle.

A local pastor connected to Haiti ARISE saw the urgency of the situation and reached out for help. When our team arrived, they found Dailove barely clinging to life. She and her older sister Chilove were brought to ARISE Children’s Village, where Dailove received immediate medical attention and life-saving care.

Today, she is thriving—healthy, joyful, and deeply loved in the care of the Fenelon family. Her life is a miracle, and her future is full of hope.

Peterson

Peterson’s Story: From the Streets to Safety
Peterson’s early life was marked by chaos and abandonment. Born in Petit-Goâve to a mother who suffered from mental illness and wandered the streets, he came into the world as a result of a tragic violation—his father refusing to acknowledge or support him. His grandmother tried to care for him, but survival came first. Each day, she left for the market, leaving Peterson on the streets to fend for himself.

By age six, he had never completed a full year of school. He was raising himself, unnoticed and unprotected.

In October 2016, just after Hurricane Matthew, while assessing homes in the community, we found Peterson. Vulnerable and forgotten, he was brought to ARISE Children’s Village, where for the first time, he received the care, stability, and education every child deserves.

Today, Peterson is no longer lost in the crowd—he’s known, loved, and growing into who he was always meant to be.

At just four months old, Ruthnéie was found in the remote mountain village of Camp Perrin during a mission trip with members of our Haitian church. Her tiny body told a story of pain—her torso, arms, and legs covered in infected burns. Her mother, suffering from severe mental illness, was harming her while practicing voodoo. With no father to protect her, Ruthnéie’s chances of survival were heartbreakingly slim.

Her grandmother, desperate to save her, begged us to take her in.

Ruthnéie became the first baby welcomed into the ARISE Children’s Village. Today, she is safe, healing, and surrounded by love—a precious life rescued from abuse and now filled with hope for the future.

Schnider’s Story: From Silence to Safety
Schnider’s early years were shaped by loss and violence. He came from the slums of Cité Soleil, where he was being raised by his father after his mother abandoned them. When his father was killed in a gang fight, Schnider was left alone for days—his father’s body never found.

His grandmother eventually found him and, recognizing she couldn’t give him the care he needed, brought him to ARISE Children’s Village in search of a better life. She continues to visit him regularly, remaining a steady presence in his life.

When Schnider first arrived, he was deeply traumatized—silent, withdrawn, and afraid to speak. But slowly, in a safe and loving environment, he’s beginning to heal. Schnider’s story is a reminder that even in the wake of tragedy, hope can take root.

With nowhere else to go, they survived under a salvaged roof, exposed to the elements and clinging to survival.

Ykenson’s grandfather, overwhelmed and desperate, begged for help—aching to give his grandson a future he couldn’t provide.

In May 2017, at just three years old, Ykenson was welcomed into a new beginning at ARISE Children’s Village. He quickly adapted to the safety, love, and stability of his new home. Maria’s Story: United Through Tragedy, Growing in Hope
Maria, Deseline, and Natacha are three sisters from Molest Nicolas in northwest Haiti—the youngest of 14 siblings. Their family was shattered when their mother died giving birth to their youngest sibling, the 15th child. Just five months later, their grief-stricken father passed away as well.

After losing both parents, the children were separated and placed with different relatives. The three sisters were given to a relative who soon realized they couldn’t properly care for them. During a mission trip to the area, Madame Fenelon’s sister heard their story and connected with Wilson, our social worker, who arranged for the sisters to join ARISE Children’s Village.

When they first arrived, two of the girls were anemic, and all three suffered from skin irritations and severe malnutrition. Today, Maria, Deseline, and Natacha are thriving and growing strong under the loving care of the Frédéric family—together, finding healing and hope for the future.

Jhony’s Story: Chosen, Cherished, and Thriving
Jhony was the youngest of eight children, born into a world of struggle and survival. His mother, overwhelmed and desperate to feed the children she already had, admitted she hadn’t planned for another baby. She was doing what she could to earn a few coins—selling herself just to keep food on the table.

Shortly after becoming pregnant, she was diagnosed with cancer. By the time Jhony was born, she was too ill to care for him. With no one else to help, Jhony was often left alone or passed between neighbors as his mother made three hospital trips a week for treatment and to have fluid drained from her abdomen.

By the time he was three months old, Jhony was severely malnourished and neglected. In June 2017, he was brought to ARISE Children’s Village—fragile, but full of fight.

Today, Jhony is healthy, joyful, and thriving. His story is a powerful reminder that every child—no matter how they come into the world—is worthy of love, care, and a chance to flourish.

Ruthnéemie’s Story: Safe in the Storm
When Ruthnéemie was born, she entered the world already orphaned. Her mother died during childbirth, and no one knew who the father was. With no siblings and nowhere to go, she was taken in by her grandmother—who was already caring for six other children.

They lived in a torn, makeshift tent in the heart of Port-au-Prince. When it rained, everything and everyone got soaked. It was no place for a fragile newborn to survive.

At six months old, Ruthnéemie was brought to ARISE Children’s Village—a decision made out of love and desperation. Here, she found the safety, care, and stability her grandmother couldn’t provide. And though they no longer live together, her grandmother visits often, remaining a part of her life and her story.

Esther’s Story: Chosen, Cherished, and Loved

Esther Lynn Laguerre was born on Sunday, November 22, 2020, at Léogâne Holy Cross Hospital, alongside her twin brother, Eli Sterling. Just hours after giving birth, their mother tragically passed away, leaving the newborn twins without a mother and in a desperate situation.

Their father, already overwhelmed with the care of three other children and no steady income, was unable to provide even basic necessities. Out of sheer despair, there was talk of selling the babies.

But hope stepped in.

When Pastor Marc heard of their situation, he acted immediately. He brought the twins to ARISE Children’s Village, where they were received with open arms and given what they had never had before—security, love, and even names.

Esther is now thriving in the warm and nurturing care of Milorvena Joseph and Joseph Max Desgazons in House 1A. Her life began in loss, but her future is filled with hope, belonging, and the beautiful truth that she is deeply loved.

With no income and already caring for three other children, their father was overwhelmed and desperate. The situation was so dire, there was talk of selling the newborn twins just to survive.

But God had another plan.

As soon as Pastor Marc heard about the crisis, he intervened. The twins were brought into the care of ARISE Children’s Village, where they were welcomed with compassion and given their names—Eli Sterling and Esther Lynn.

Eli now lives in House 1A with his sister, under the loving care of Milorvena Joseph and Joseph Max Desgazons. He is growing into a joyful, thriving little boy whose life is a powerful reminder that even in the darkest beginnings, redemption is possible.

Trotsky’s Story: A Family Reunited, A Future Redeemed

Trotsky Laguerre is the older brother of twins Eli and Esther. Their family is from Grand Goave, and life took a tragic turn when their mother passed away shortly after giving birth to the twins.

Left with no income and no support, their father faced the unbearable—considering selling the newborns just to survive. Thankfully, Haiti ARISE stepped in and brought Eli and Esther into the safety of the Children's Village.

But Trotsky’s story didn’t end there.

Just a few months later, it became clear that Trotsky, too, was living in a desperate situation. He was without proper care, stability, or access to education. A concerned friend advised his father to reach out to Haiti ARISE once more.

After a careful assessment by our social worker, it was clear Trotsky needed help urgently. On January 8, 2023, Trotsky was welcomed into the Children’s Village—where he was finally reunited with his twin siblings.

Today, Trotsky is thriving in the loving care of the Desgazons family. Together again, these three siblings now have the chance to grow up safe, loved, and full of hope for what’s ahead.

In the philosophy of the village, a family that is qualified to enter in the village to serve as parents, has right to have a child that is their own. So because of that, Lorvencia who is the biological child of Milorvena & Max Desgazons, automatically qualifies. She is a big older sister to the twins Eli & Esther and their older brother Trotsky. Marlensky’s Story: A Journey Toward Stability and Love

Born in Port-au-Prince, Marlensky's life began with uncertainty. His mother, unable to care for him and unaware of who his father was, gave him to a woman in her neighborhood. But after just six months, the woman’s financial situation declined, and she passed him on to a neighbor originally from Grand Goave.

That neighbor brought Marlinsky back with her to Grand Goave and cared for him as best she could. But three years later, her own health began to fail, and she could no longer look after him. Desperate to find a safe place for the boy, she contacted the Haiti ARISE office and explained her situation.

After a full evaluation by our social worker, it was clear Marlensky was in need of long-term care and stability. On August 10, 2022, he joined the ARISE Children’s Village and became one of the first children placed in the loving care of the Saintil family.

Cheistie’s Story: From Loss to Love

Cheistie was just 2 years old when her father passed away, leaving her mother alone with four children and no way to provide for them. The family lived in a small, one-room house near Petit Goave, barely surviving.

A security guard who works with Haiti ARISE learned of their desperate situation and shared it with our team. When we visited, her mother explained her story—she was originally from Saint Marc, but after the devastating cyclone in 2008 swept away everything she had, a neighbor brought her to Petit Goave. There, she started a family. But after her partner died, she was overwhelmed and unable to care for the children. She had already given two away, and was preparing to give away the remaining two, including Cheistie.

After careful evaluation, it was clear Cheistie needed immediate support and a stable home. In May 2023, she came to live at ARISE Children’s Village, where she is now safe, thriving, and surrounded by love in the care of the Saintil family.

Robensley

Robensley’s Story: What a Difference a Few Days Made

Robensley and his younger brother and sister come from a small rural community in Camp Perrin, in the south of Haiti. In 2022, their mother passed away, leaving their father to care for all the children on his own. Life quickly became desperate.

At just 6 years old, Robensley was severely malnourished. He had been part of a USAID nutrition program in the area, but when the program ended, so did any hope of consistent food. A local spiritual leader, aware of Haiti ARISE and the Children’s Village, reached out to inform us of the children’s declining health and critical situation.

When our team arrived to assess the family, their father shared that he had 12 children from two different mothers—both of whom had passed away. He was now trying to care for all of them alone. The children were so weak from hunger that they would sleep all day, simply because there was no food. Not even bread. Out of desperation, the father had already given away three of the older children, hoping they might survive elsewhere.

When we met the three youngest still in his care, including Robensley, we knew immediate action was needed. On August 3, 2023, we brought them back to the Children’s Village. Robensley is now thriving in the loving care of the Saintil family. Just a few days of proper nourishment and care made all the difference. What was once a life of hopelessness is now one filled with healing, joy, and the promise of a better future.

Kenley

Kenley’s Story: From Desperation to Hope

Kenley, along with his older brother and younger sister, comes from a small community in Camp Perrin in southern Haiti. In 2022, their mother passed away, leaving their father to care for all twelve children from two different mothers—both of whom had sadly died.

Kenley, only three years old, was severely malnourished. He had been part of a USAID nutrition program that supported young children in the area, but when the program ended, so did his access to proper food. A spiritual leader in the community, aware of Haiti ARISE and the Children’s Village, alerted us about the children’s dire condition.

When our team assessed the family, their father shared the heartbreaking reality: the children were so hungry that some days they slept all day, too weak to do anything. They didn’t even have bread to eat. Out of desperation, he had already given away three of the older children before we learned of the situation.

The three youngest—Kenley and his siblings—remained in his care, but it was clear they needed urgent help. On August 3, 2023, our team brought them to ARISE Children’s Village. Since then, Kenley and his siblings have been thriving in the loving care of the Saintil family. Just a few days of nourishment and care made all the difference, turning their story from one of struggle into one of hope and healing.

Alann

Alann’s Story: A Second Chance at Life

Alann and her older brothers come from a small community in Camp Perrin, in southern Haiti. In 2022, their mother passed away, leaving their father to care for all twelve children from two different mothers—both of whom had sadly died.

At just under two years old, Alann was severely malnourished. She had been part of a USAID nutrition program that helped young children in the area, but when the program ended, so did her access to proper food. A spiritual leader in the community, aware of Haiti ARISE and the Children’s Village, reached out to us to share the urgent situation.

When our team assessed the family, her father shared the heartbreaking truth: the children were so hungry that some days they would sleep all day, too weak to move. They didn’t even have bread to eat. Out of desperation, he had already given away three of the older children before we learned of their situation.

The three youngest—Alann and her brothers—were still in his care, but it was clear they needed immediate help. On August 3, 2023, our team brought them to ARISE Children’s Village.

Now, Alann and her brothers are thriving in the loving care of the Saintil family. Thanks to proper nutrition and care, they have been given a new chance at life filled with hope and health.

Ednelson's Story: A New Beginning

High in the mountains of Grand Goâve, Ednelson and his younger brother Saint Jean grew up in deep poverty. Their parents had seven children, and in 2021, tragedy struck when their mother passed away from a serious illness.

Since her death, the children were left in the care of their father, who worked odd jobs just to provide food. But the little he earned was never enough to meet their needs, and none of the children were able to attend school. Life grew harder each day.

Eventually, relatives tried to move the children to another community, but conditions there were no better. In fact, the boys were not even welcome in the family home where they were placed. Out of desperation, a community member reached out to Pastor Marc, asking if Haiti ARISE could help.

On September 16, 2025, Ednelson and Saint Jean were welcomed into ARISE Children’s Village. Now, they have found safety, stability, and the chance to go to school and dream of a brighter future.

Junior’s Story: Finding Safety and Care

Junior was born in Haiti to a single mother. His father abandoned them before he was even born, leaving his mother to face the challenges of raising him alone. Life was incredibly difficult, and in search of a better future, she moved with Junior to Port-au-Prince.

During this time, it was Junior’s grandfather—a hardworking mechanic—who stepped in to help provide for them. But at the end of 2022 and into 2023, bandits invaded the area where his grandfather’s garage was located. Forced to flee for safety, the family returned to Les Cayes.

Soon after, Junior’s mother brought him to stay with his grandfather. Still, it was clear that he needed greater stability and care than the family could provide. That’s when he was welcomed into Haiti ARISE Children’s Village.

Today, Junior is safe, surrounded by love, and part of a community where he can grow up with hope for a brighter future.

Kelly’s Story: From Abandonment to Care

Kelly Lherisson’s life began with hardship. His mother separated from his father when Kelly was just a baby, leaving him in his father’s care in Port-au-Prince. But in 2023, his father abandoned him as well, choosing to roam the streets. According to community reports, the father had become involved with gangs, leaving Kelly alone and vulnerable in the neighborhood.

One day, an aunt passing by found Kelly on the street. Heartbroken at his situation, she took him to his grandfather, who lives in the commune of Les Cayes. Since then, Kelly has been staying with his elderly grandfather, who loves him dearly but struggles to care for him because of his age.

Now, Kelly has been welcomed into a place of safety and care, where he can grow up with stability, love, and the hope of a brighter future.
