Zanmitay Sant de Sante, Friends Helping Friends Health Center, is Haiti ARISE's On-site Medical Clinic which serves to provide relief of poverty by meeting the basic needs of health care and disease prevention. Our desire is to couple health education with training for medical personel and treatment of patients.
The on-site medical facility started construction in Oct 2010 with a newly designed system for Haiti, pre-fabricated concrete panels. This system has provided hands-on training for the local Haitian labor force. The facility includes four exam rooms, four operation rooms, pharmacy, laboratory, staff office, reception area, bathrooms and public showers.
This project is possible thanks to our partnership with Cranbrook Team led by Dr. Bob Cutler and Hungry for Life.
Estimated Project Cost: $150,000 US.
Clinics have been operating bi-annually since 2007 with visiting medical teams led by Dr. Bob Cutler. Haiti ARISE has been honored to serve the people of Grand-Goave by providing quality health care for simple illnesses to complex problems such as heart surgery. The current health care system in Haiti is very minimal and many people go untreated for many basic diseases. We have seen on average 1000-1500 patients in every two-week clinic hosted. It is our goal to have a full-time operating medical clinic, staffed by local Haitian nurses and medical personnel, while continuing to host medical teams. Education in health, hygiene and prevention is also a major part of our philosophy in health care. Every clinic is coupled with short teachings on subjects such as pre and post-natal care, basic and dental hygiene, Post Traumatic Stress, nutrition etc.
The medical clinic is opening for regular operations 3 days a week with a Haitian staff team of 1 doctor, 1-2 nurses, pharmacist, administrator, medical records personnel and 2 janitors. We will continue to host medical teams quarterly to provide excellent healthcare and training.
