Full Swing

Well, we have jumped back in with both feet. Got back down to Haiti after a six week tour of Alberta, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Montana, visiting churches and thanking the many who gave since the earthquake. Chris and Rebecca Girvan did such a fabulous job at holding down the fort while we were in North America. They took initiative and have earned tremendous respect from the locals by serving joyfully. You can check out their blog at In His Service. They have done much more than teach English! We arrived in Grand-Goave with three visitors, meeting a construction team from Surrey, BC who had arrived a week ahead of us, and picked up a team from Crossroads Church in Red Deer, Alberta. We have lots of projects on the go.
The team from Surrey, who are workers for ICC Construction, have been training a team of laborers on a new system of construction that we are using for the building of the new medical clinic and for community homes. They leave tomorrow and praise be to God, they got up the first wall at 7pm tonight. The Haitian crew are thrilled, as well as the team of guys. A huge accomplishment! Elementary school classes opened last week with kids crawling joyously all over the playground and enthusiastically reciting lessons in the open-air classes. The Crossroads team will be painting the school tomorrow and have been helping to collect student info to start a data base of students for child sponsorship. The technical school foundation has been dug and plans sent down. We are blessed to have Kathleen Morrisey with us for the next two months to help in project management to get the school construction going according to plans.
Last night we had an incredible prayer and worship service and I really felt God speak. " I am going to do wonders," I heard Him say. I asked Him, "when?" Then was reminded of how He has done so much already. I have such little faith. But God chooses the weak to shame the wise and strong. With God all things that are impossible with man become possible! In the midst of this all, I am getting back into routine of home school with the kids and accounting in the afternoons. Charles & Nicole Nowochin with their two kids, who arrived with the Crossroads team, will be with us for five weeks teaching French, helping with administration and hosting teams. Our kids are having a blast all together. We are so blessed by the amazing people God has sent to work with us. There is so much more to write, but just wanted to get a quick word out there.
If you have heard of the cholera outbreak in Haiti, yes it is true, but fortunately, it is not in our area. We are being proactive to educate the people on how to prevent them from catching it. It spreads from unsanitary conditions and unclean water. Pray that it clears quickly and does not keep spreading in the country. Haiti cannot afford more devastation. We are trying to make headway. Though it is slow, we will keep on plowing.
